Introduction to Pilates Mat Work I & II
Prerequisites:
Professional teaching experience in the fitness, exercise or bodywork fields
OR
A minimum of 15 hours of personal experience in Pilates mat
or equipment exercise at a professional studio
Course outline:
Course is divided into two weekends. Weekend one may be taken alone without subsequent weekend two course for CECs or personal continuing education. Weekend two must be completed for certification.
Weekend 1: Introduction to Pilates Mat Work I:
This course is designed to teach Pilates core
principles and fundamental mat work to fitness professionals who want to improve their knowledge of the Pilates method of exercise.It is also designed
as a first session course for those interested in pursuing a Pilates mat
certification.
During this first weekend, students will receive an overview of the basic anatomy related to Pilates. Students will learn
Pilates core principles and EvolvePilates Mat
foundation exercises.
This course is not a
certification.It is meant for
continuing education purposes and to educate fitness professionals who wish to pursue a full Mat foundation certification.
Weekend 2:Introduction to Pilates Mat Work II:
During weekend two, students will learn how to design and teach a comprehensive mat program. They will learn verbal, tactile and imagery cuing skills for all exercises and group teaching skills. In addition, students will learn how to identify faulty posture patterns and modify exercises accordingly.
Both mat courses must be completed and passed for certification.
Certification
requirements:
- Completion of both mat course weekends
- Completion
of written comprehensive exam with a score minimum of 90%
- Successful
completion of several practical evaluations given throughout the course
